Lathen, chief of the Cable Services Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission, announced today that Ruth Dancey will depart the Commission on June 5. Ms. Dancey leaves her post as Assistant Bureau Chief for Management of the Cable Services Bureau. Ann Enoch Morgan, who has been serving as Deputy Assistant Bureau Chief for Management since last year, will become Acting Assistant Bureau Chief upon Dancey's departure. Separately, Chief Lathen announced that James Heimbach has been named to the position of Acting Legal Advisor for the Cable Services Bureau. This position was formerly held by Clint Odom, who was recently appointed as a legal advisor to FCC Chairman William E. Kennard. Ms. Dancey leaves the FCC to become the Administrative Manager for Gemini Networks, Inc. based in Falls Church, Virginia. Deborah Lathen said, "Ruth has been a resourceful leader and capable manager for the Bureau. I wish her well in her new adventure, but her leadership and guidance will be missed by the cable staff and the agency." Ms. Lathen added, "Ann Morgan and Jay Heimbach have proven to be trusted advisors and I look forward to working with them in their new roles." Ms. Dancey joined the FCC in 1993 as Confidential Assistant to then- Chairman Reed Hundt. In 1997, Dancey was named Assistant Secretary of the FCC and in 1999 she was tapped by Cable Chief Lathen for the assistant bureau chief job. Ms. Morgan has been employed by the FCC for more than 25 years, working in various offices including the Common Carrier Bureau, Office of Public Affairs, and the Office of the Managing Director as well as serving as an Executive Secretary to former Commissioners Margita E. White and Anne P. Jones. Mr. Heimbach joined the FCC in 1999 as a Special Advisor in the Cable Services Bureau. Prior to the FCC, Mr. Heimbach held two positions at the White House. He served as senior policy advisor to the Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the Director of Legislative Affairs. Mr. Heimbach received his B.A. in government from Colby College and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law. - FCC -
