                FCC RELEASES TELEPHONE SUBSCRIBERSHIP DATA




     The FCC has released the latest available data on telephone subscribership levels in
the United States.

     Between July 1993 and July 1994, 0.2 million households were added to the nation's
telephone system.  Census Bureau figures for July 1994 indicate that 93.7% of all households
in the United States have a telephone.  The proportion of households subscribing to telephone
service is down 0.5% from the July 1993 survey.

     The report includes figures showing subscribership percentages by state, by
householder's age and race, by household size, by family income, and for individual adult
persons by labor force status.  The data for individual adults show that 94.5% of those in the
adult civilian noninstitutionalized population have a telephone in their household.

     This report is updated every four months and is available for reference in Suite 10,
