February 7, 1995 MARK URETSKY NAMED ASSISTANT BUREAU CHIEF FOR ECONOM ICS, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU Mark Uretsky has been appointed Assistant Bureau Chief for Economics of the Common Carrier Bureau. For the past several years, Mr. Uretsky has served in the Common Carrier Bureau's Tariff Division as supervisory economist of the cost analysis staff. In this capacity, he participated in developing and implementing price cap regulation of the local exchange carriers and AT&T. As Assistant Bureau Chief for Economics, Mr. Uretsky will participate in developing and coordinating policy regarding economic issues before the Bureau. This is Mr. Uretsky's second tour of duty at the FCC. During the interim, Mr. Uretsky studied Buddhism with a Zen master of the Rinzai lineage. Before working at the FCC, Mr. Uretsky worked as a community organizer in Little Rock and Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Uretsky was educated at the University of California, Berkeley where he received a B.A. in History of Art and at the University of Massachusetts, where he received an M.A. in Economics. He lives in Washington D.C. He enjoys swimming and studying jazz guitar. -FCC-
