February 7, 1995 MARY BETH RICHARDS NAMED DEPUTY BUREAU CHIEF, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU Mary Beth Richards has been appointed Deputy Bureau Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau. For the past year, Ms. Richards has served as Special Counsel to the Commission for Reinventing Government. In this position, Ms. Richards determined what steps the Commission could take to implement the reinventing government strategies and oversaw those measures. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Richards has held various management positions including in the Field Operations Bureau and the Common Carrier Bureau. She also held positions as Legal Assistant to the Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau and staff attorney in the Common Carrier Bureau's Tariff Division and in the Private Radio Bureau. Ms. Richards received a B.A. from Virginia Tech and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America. She lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband, Jack, and their son Calvin. - FCC -
