NEWSReport No. CC 97-41 COMMON CARRIER ACTION August 8, 1997 ANNA GOMEZ NAMED DEPUTY CHIEF OF THE NETWORK SERVICES DIVISION OF THE COMMON CARRIER BUREAU Anna Gomez has been named Deputy Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau's Network Services Division. Previously, Ms. Gomez served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House's National Economic Council. Ms. Gomez first joined the Federal Communications Commission in August 1994 as an attorney in the Consumer Protection Division of the Cable Services Bureau. She subsequently served as Legal Counsel to Kathleen B. Wallman, then Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau, and also to Ms. Wallman's successor, Regina M. Keeney. In August 1996, Ms. Gomez was appointed Staff Chair to the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service. Ms. Gomez left the Commission to serve briefly as Counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee's Telecommunications Subcommittee, before moving on to the White House. Ms. Gomez earned a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. from George Washington University's National Law Center. - FCC -
