NEWSJanuary 29, 1998 DONALD K. STOCKDALE, JR. NAMED ASSOCIATE CHIEF, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU Donald K. Stockdale Jr. has been appointed Associate Chief of the FCC's Common Carrier Bureau. Since May 1996 Stockdale has served as a deputy chief of the Policy and Program Planning Division of the FCC's Common Carrier Bureau. In that capactity, he supervised, among other things, portions of the Commission's Section 251 interconnection proceeding and participated in the development of the Commission's competition and merger policies. Previously, Stockdale served as an attorney-advisor in the Policy and Program Planning Division where, among other things, he supervised the AT&T Reclassification proceeding. Prior to joining the FCC, Stockdale taught business and public policy at the University of Maryland Business School. Before that he was a litigation associate at the New York law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he specialized in U.S. and European antitrust law. He has a B.A., J.D. and Ph.D. in Economics, all from Yale University, and a M.A. in economics from Kings College, Cambridge. - FCC -
