JENNINGS NAMED SPECIAL ADVISOR TO THE DIVISION CHIEF, POLICY AND PROGRAM PLANNING DIVISION, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU Jake E. Jennings was designated Special Advisor on Competition, Technology, and Policy to the Division Chief of the Policy and Program Planning Division of the FCC's Common Carrier Bureau. Since March 1997, Mr. Jennings has worked in the Policy Division where he has had a significant role in several major proceedings concerning complex economic, technical, and policy issues. His work on such matters as the local competition issues, applications by Bell Operating Companies to provide in-region, long distance service, and the Bell Atlantic/NYNEX merger has been instrumental in the Bureau's efforts to implement the 1996 Act. Mr. Jennings will continue to play a prominent role in the Division's work on local competition issues. Mr. Jennings was formerly the Senior Policy Analyst of the Telecommunications Division at the Illinois Commerce Commission ("ICC"). In that role, Mr. Jennings testified as an expert witness on a number of telecommunication matters before the ICC and Illinois General Assembly. Mr. Jennings received his B.A. in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics in 1992 from the University of Central Oklahoma and received a M.A. from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1994. - FCC -
