  HUGH BOYLE NAMED CHIEF, AUDITS BRANCH, ACCOUNTING SAFEGUARDS
                DIVISION, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU

     Hugh Boyle has been named Chief of the Accounting Safeguards Division's Audits
Branch.  

     Boyle previously served as a senior auditor in the Audits Branch and had major
responsibility in overseeing recent investigations and audit activity concerning the largest local
exchange carriers.  Prior to his present position, Boyle served in various supervisory and policy
positions in the Cable Services Bureau.  He had significant responsibilities for implementation of
the rate regulation provisions of the 1992 Cable Act, and, from 1995 to 1997, he served as Chief
Accountant in the office of the Division Chief, Financial Analysis and Compliance Division.  Boyle
joined the Commission as an accountant in the Common Carrier Bureau in 1982, working on the
development and administration of the Commission's Uniform System of Accounts.  

     Boyle is a CPA and has a BA and MS in Accounting Systems from the University of
Maryland and a Masters in Professional Accountancy from Loyola College.  Boyle lives in
Montgomery County, Maryland with his wife and his three children.
