DA 95-1529 PLEADING CYCLE ESTABLISHED FOR COMMENTS ON BELLSOUTH'S PETITION FOR WAIVER OF PART 69 OF THE COMMISSION'S RULES Released: July 10, 1995 On June 30, 1995, BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc. (BellSouth) filed a petition seeking a waiver of the Commission's rules in order to provide switched access services using its special access SMARTRing service, SMARTPath service, and SMARTPath DS3 Transport service rate structures. BellSouth also seeks a waiver to provide the proposed services, as well as existing switched access services, pursuant to different term payment plans. BellSouth states that the Commission's existing rules limit the rate structures under which switched access services can be provided and prohibit the use of volume and term plans without proof that certain conditions are met. BellSouth argues that although the existing rules are due to expire on October 31, 1995, it needs the flexibility to provide such arrangements now in order to meet customer demands and expectations. Interested parties should file comments on the petition by August 10, 1995, and reply comments by August 25, 1995, with the Secretary, FCC, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554. A copy should also be sent to Peggy Reitzel, Common Carrier Bureau, FCC, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, and to the Commission's contractor for public service records duplication: ITS, Inc., 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140, Washington, D.C. 20037. BellSouth's petition is available for inspection and copying in the Policy and Program Planning Division, Common Carrier Bureau, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554.
