$// PN, Pet. for Nondominant Status //$ $/ 47 CFR 69.601 /$ "FOR RECORD ONLY" DA 95-1670 PLEADING CYCLE ESTABLISHED FOR COMMENTS ON AMERITECH COMMUNICATIONS, INC.'S PETITION FOR NONDOMINANT STATUS CCBPol 95-1 Released: July 27, 1995 On July 21, 1995, Ameritech Communications, Inc. (ACI) filed a petition requesting the Commission determine that ACI will be a nondominant carrier under the Commission's rules. ACI is a fully separate subsidiary of the Ameritech Operating Companies. ACI states that the Department of Justice has filed a motion with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking a modification of the Modified Final Judgment to allow ACI to provide interLATA services, on a limited, trial basis. ACI argues that it should be classified as a nondominant carrier because it will lack market power in the long-distance marketplace and will have no control of bottleneck facilities. ACI argues that it should be subject to the streamlined regulatory framework that applies to nondominant carriers, including one-day tariff filing requirements and blanket section 214 authority. Interested parties may file comments on this petition by August 28, 1995, and reply comments by September 12, 1995, with the Secretary, FCC, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554. A copy should also be sent to Janice M. Myles, Common Carrier Bureau, FCC, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, and to the Commission's contractor for public service records duplication: ITS, Inc., 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140, Washington, D.C. 20037. Parties filing comments in this non- docketed proceeding should include the Policy Division internal reference number, CCBPol 95-1, on their pleadings. ACI's petition is available for inspection and copying in the Industry Analysis Division reference room, Common Carrier Bureau, Room 533, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. Copies of these filings can be obtained from ITS, Inc. at (202) 857-3800. We will treat these proceedings as non-restricted for purposes of the Commission's ex parte rules.
