WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500 Recorded listing of releases and texts 202/418-2222. ______________________________________________________________________ DA 97-86 January 14, 1997 ALTS'S MOTION TO DISMISS AMERITECH MICHIGAN'S APPLICATION FOR SECTION 271 AUTHORIZATION TO PROVIDE IN-REGION, INTERLATA SERVICE IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN (CC DOCKET NO. 97-1) On January 14, 1997, the Association for Local Telecommunications Services (ALTS) filed a document entitled "Motion to Dismiss" which asks the Commission to dismiss Ameritech Michigan's recently filed application for authorization under section 271 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, to provide in-region, interLATA service in the State of Michigan. Ameritech Michigan filed its application on January 2, 1997. On that same day, the Common Carrier Bureau issued a Public Notice that, inter alia, established a procedural schedule for the Ameritech Michigan application. See Comments Requested on Application by Ameritech Michigan for Authorization under Section 271 of the Communications Act to Provide In-Region, InterLATA Service in the State of Michigan, Public Notice, DA 97-4 (rel. Jan. 2, 1997) (January 2nd PN). Pursuant to this schedule, comments are due from interested parties on or before January 22, 1997, and each party is limited to 50 pages for its comments. The Commission will consider ALTS's motion to dismiss as comments filed in opposition to Ameritech Michigan's application and count the total number of pages filed toward ALTS's 50-page limit. A pleading cycle will not be established in response to ALTS's motion. Any pleadings filed that address ALTS's motion will also be considered comments in CC Docket No. 97-1 and will be counted toward parties' respective comment page limits.
