                  SPRINT REQUESTS APPROVAL OF  
                       ZONE DENSITY PLANS

On February 21, 1997, Sprint Local Telecommunications (Sprint LTC), pursuant to Parts 61.4 and
69.123 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R.  61.4 and 69.123, filed a request for approval of its
revised zone plans.  Individual zone plans were initially approved for Sprint's United Telephone
operations in Missouri, Tennessee and Virginia and for Sprint's Central Telephone operations in
Virginia in August 1993.  In this regard, Sprint LTC proposes to submit revised zone plans for their
Midwest (Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming) and Southeast (South
Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia) study areas which reflect the same level of aggregation elected
by Sprint LTC under price cap regulations.  Sprint LTC contends that the methodology used to
classify the central offices into zones for the aggregated Midwest and Southeast zone density plans
is identical to that used in developing the individual zone plans previously approved.  Sprint LTC
respectfully request the Commission act expeditiously in approving the aggregated zone density
plan.  

Interested parties may file comments on Sprint's zone density plan no later than March 17, 1997. 
Replies must be filed by March 24, 1997. When filing comments and/or replies please reference the
internal file number:  CCB/CPD 97-14.

An original and four copies of all comments and replies must be filed in accordance with Section
1.51 (c) of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R.  1.51(c).  In addition, one copy of each pleading 
must be filed with International Transcription Services (ITS), the Commission's duplicating
contractor, at its office at 2100 M Street, N.W., Suite 140, Washington, D.C. 20037 and one copy
with the Chief, Competitive Pricing Division, Room 518, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.
