AND U.S. WEST, INC.'S PROPOSED DIVESTITURE PLANS CC DOCKET NO. 99-272 Released: October 19, 1999 On October 18, 1999, Qwest Communications International Inc. and U.S. West, Inc. (collectively, "the Applicants") jointly submitted to the Commission the attached proposed divestiture plan as part of their response to public comments and petitions in connection with their application to transfer control of licenses and Commission authorizations. The Applicants contend the proposed divestiture plan sets forth all steps Qwest Communications International, Inc. will take to discontinue providing interLATA services in the US West Inc. region, as well as all steps necessary to assign all existing service obligations to one or more independent interexchange carriers. The proposed divestiture plan also provides a summary of how the Applicants will meet the statutory requirements of Section 271 of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C.  271. All interested parties may file comments on the Applicants' proposed divestiture plan no later than October 26, 1999, with the Commission's Secretary, Magalie Roman Salas, FCC, Room TW-A325, 445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.
