NEWS Report No. CI 96-3 COMPLIANCE AND INFORMATION ACTION November 8, 1996 FCC DENIES DBS ELECTRONICS APPLICATION FOR REVIEW The Commission denied DBS Electronics' Application for Review filed June 5, 1996. This action upheld the Compliance and Information Bureau's evaluation and disposition of the arguments previously presented by DBS, and found no reason to disturb the Bureau's decision. Essentially, the Commission found that Mr. Weldon B. Drennon, Jr., owner of DBS Electronics, was responsible for selling a marine radio transceiver that did not comply with the Commission's Rules. Selling modified radio transceivers that operate on unauthorized frequencies reflects a serious disregard of the Act and the Commission's Rules. Therefore, DBS Electronics is liable for a monetary forfeiture in the amount of three thousand dollars ($3,000) for violating Section 302(b) of the Communications Act. DBS Electronics has thirty (30) days to pay the full amount of the forfeiture. Action by the Commission, October 30, 1996, by Memorandum Opinion and Order, (FCC 96-429).
