Winston at 202-418-7450 FCC Enforcement Bureau Announces New Staff Assignments Washington, DC Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Enforcement Bureau, announced that Alex Starr has been named Chief of the Enforcement Bureau's Market Disputes Resolution Division (MDRD). Since the Enforcement Bureau's creation in November 1999, Starr has served as one of MDRD's two Deputy Chiefs. Prior to serving as a Deputy Chief of MDRD, Starr was Chief of the Formal Complaints and Investigations Branch of the Common Carrier Bureau's (CCB) Enforcement Division and also worked as an attorney in the CCB's Policy Division. Before joining the Commission, Starr was a litigation partner at the law firm of Reed Smith in Washington, D.C. He also served as a law clerk for a federal district court judge and for a federal circuit court judge. Alex Starr is an honors graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School. Radhika Karmarkar will replace Alex Starr as one of the two Deputy Chiefs of the MDRD. Since the Enforcement Bureau's creation, Karmarkar served as an Assistant Division Chief in MDRD. Prior to that assignment, Karmarkar was Deputy Chief of the Formal Complaints and Investigations Branch of the CCB's Enforcement Division and also served as a Senior Attorney in the CCB's Policy Division. Before joining the Commission, Karmarkar worked as an attorney at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and prior to that, as an associate in the telecommunications group at the law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.
