The Commission's December 17, 1998 Report and Order (R&O) in GEN Docket 98-68 amended the Commission's rules to permit TCBs to certify equipment as complying with FCC requirements. The R&O established the general qualification criteria for TCBs, and the Commission's Office of Engineering and Technology is responsible for developing the specific details. This workshop will be used to discuss TCB qualification criteria and to allow interested parties an opportunity to participate in the development of such criteria. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) workshops on the US-EC Mutual Recognition Agreement on April 27, 1999 and the workshop on the National Voluntary Conformity Assessment Systems Evaluation (NVCASE) on the morning of April 28, 1999. The FCC TCB workshop will be held in the afternoon (1-5 PM) on April 28, 1999. All three workshops will be held in the Department of Commerce Auditorium at 14th Street and Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. There is no fee to attend either workshop, but parties must pre-register by providing the full names and affiliations of planned participants by April 21, so that NIST can make appropriate arrangements.
