LABORATORY DIVISION OF
THE OFFICE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
ANNOUNCES TRAINING SEMINARS ON
ELECTRONIC FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR
EQUIPMENT AUTHORIZATION

The Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) will hold training seminars on electronic filing of applications (FCC Form 731) and all required information for equipment authorization. In accordance with 47 CFR, Part 2, Subpart J, Section 2.913(c), effective October 5, 1999, applications for equipment authorization must be filed electronically. Telephone Terminal Equipment requiring Registration under Part 68 is excluded from this requirement. The training seminars will provide an opportunity for applicants to understand and discuss the transition of equipment authorization applications from paper to electronic filing.

The training seminars are intended for applicants who have not yet submitted an application electronically through our Web site. Space limitations require that attendance at the seminars be limited to twenty guests per session. Depending on response, a limitation of two representatives per company or organization may be necessary. If there is sufficient interest, additional sessions may be offered to give as many interested parties as possible an opportunity to participate.

The training seminars are scheduled for September 15, 1999. One session will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, EDT. The second session will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., EDT. The same information will be covered in each training seminar; therefore, it is not necessary to enroll in both sessions. Both seminars will be conducted in the Main Conference Room at the FCC Laboratory, 7435 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, Maryland, 21046.

Please contact Phyllis Parrish of the OET Measurements and Calibration Branch (telephone (301) 362-3045; email: pparrish@fcc.gov) by September 1, 1999, to reserve a place for either of these sessions. Please try to limit the number of representatives from each company/organization. Reservations will be accepted as they are received. We can not guarantee that all interested parties will be accommodated. However, if there is significant interest, additional sessions may be considered. Your reservation will be confirmed at least one week prior to the session that you are scheduled to attend. Please note that travel arrangements, hotel reservations and meals are the responsibility of the attendee. Directions to the Laboratory can be requested by sending your FAX number to Phyllis Parrish, at the phone number or e-mail address noted above.

If there are any questions regarding the content of the seminars, please contact Bette Taube of the OET Equipment Authorization Branch (email: btaube@fcc.gov; FAX (301) 344-2050).
