     The applications listed below have been found, upon initial review, to be acceptable for filing. 
The Commission reserves the right to return any of the applications if, upon further examination, it is
determined the application is not in conformance with the Commission's Rules or its policies.  Final action
will not be taken on any of these submissions earlier than 30 days following the date of this notice.

     Direct Broadcasting Satellite Corporation (DBSC) has filed an application for modification
     of its DBS authorization.  By this modification, DBSC is requesting authority to change
     spacecraft specifications, design and delivery dates.

     General Communications, Inc. (GCI) has filed a petition for partial waiver of the bush
     earth station policy (see Policies and Rules Governing the Ownership and Operation of
     Domestic Satellite Earth Stations in Bush Communities in Alaska, 92 FCC 2d 739 (1982)
     aff'd 96-FCC 2d 522 (1984)).  GCI is seeking a partial waiver to permit it to construct
     and operate a thin route satellite earth station project encompassing up to fifty sites in
     rural Alaska.
