The duties of Renee Licht, Deputy Chief, Mass Media Bureau, are being
expanded. In addition to her present responsibilities as lead adviser on policy issues in
the Bureau, Licht will advise the Commission on strategic planning and organizational
issues. "Renee has helped me immeasurably during the transition and I'm delighted that she has agreed to continue to advise me based on her long and varied experience at the Commission," Chairman William E. Kennard said. Licht has been Deputy Chief of the Mass Media Bureau since April 1994. She has served in a wide variety of other posts at the Commission, including Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, as well as adviser to Chairman Hundt and Senior Legal Advisor to Commissioner Henry Rivera. Licht joined the FCC in 1979 after graduating magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. Licht has been active in the Federal Communications Bar Association, and has served as a member of its Executive Committee and as Secretary. She presently serves as a trustee of the FCBA Foundation.
