June 29, 1999 MASS MEDIA BUREAU'S CHARLES (BUCK) LOGAN TO LEAVE COMMISSION Charles (Buck) Logan has announced that he will step down as Chief of the Policy & Rules Division of the FCC's Mass Media Bureau to become of counsel at the law firm of Lawler, Metzer & Milkman, LLC, in Washington, DC. "Buck has made a great contribution to the Commission and I am sorry to see him go," said Chairman William Kennard. "He has been a key part of my policymaking team. I know I speak for everyone at the Commission when I say I will miss him and wish him well." Logan joined the Commission in 1994 and became Chief of the Mass Media Bureau's Policy & Rules Division in January 1998. He also served as Acting Deputy Bureau Chief in the spring of 1999. As Chief of the Policy & Rules Division, Logan oversaw the Division's work on rulemaking proceedings regarding broadcast multiple ownership rules, digital television, and a wide range of other issues. Before joining the Commission in October 1994, Logan practiced communications law at the law firm of Covington & Burling. From 1988-89, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Levin H. Campbell for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and from 1987-88 he was a Bigelow Fellow and Instructor in Law at the University of Chicago Law School. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his law degree from Yale Law School. - FCC -
