NEWSNEWS Report No. MM 96-15 MASS MEDIA ACTION March 11, 1996 FCC GRANTS TRANSFER OF CONTROL OF 12 TV STATIONS AND 25 LPTV STATIONS FROM ROY SPEER TO SILVER MANAGEMENT The Commission has granted, subject to conditions, the applications for transfer of control of 12 television stations and 25 lowpower television stations (LPTV) from Roy Speer to Silver Management Company, a joint venture between Barry Diller and Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI). Silver Management requested and was granted a waiver of the television duopoly rule to permit continued common ownership of WEHS-TV, Newark, NJ, and WHSP-TV, Vineland, NJ, and was granted continued satellite authorization of WHSI-TV, Smithtown, NY, pursuant to Note 5 of the Rules. Silver Management, the proposed controlling entity of Silver King, is a newly formed privately held company whose sole stockholders are Arrow Holdings L.L.C., ultimately owned by Barry Diller, and Liberty Media Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tele- Communications, Inc. All of the voting stock of Silver Management is to be held by Diller's Arrow Holdings.
