This report is available from the internet at http://www.fcc.gov/mmb/prd/tvu.html. For both Analog and digital television, this report shows by market, for commercial and noncommercial channels, the number of VHF and UHF channels licensed (LIC), the number for which construction permits have been granted (CP), the number for which an application has been filed (APP). The markets numbered 1-211 are ranked by Nielsen's Media Research (DMA) households, January 2001. Additional markets, numbered 211-225, are listed alphabetically; third group comprises the States of Alaska and Hawaii and the Territories or Commonwealths of Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands. For each market the communities of allocation are shown. Where the communities of allocation and license are not the same, both communities are shown, with the community of license in parentheses. An index to the markets and communities in the tabulation is provided. The communities shown are those in the FCC Rules and Regulations, Table of Assignments, Section 73.606, Amendments as of June 30, 2001. The tabulation was prepared by the Policy And Rules Division of the Mass Media Bureau. Questions concerning the data may be addressed to that office at the FCC, Washington, D.C. 20554, or telephone Evelyn Ripka (202) 418-2127. -FCC-
