March 7, 1997 DAN PHYTHYON TO BE NAMED ACTING WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU CHIEF Dan Phythyon will be named Acting Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and will assume the post when the current Chief, Michele Farquhar, leaves the FCC, as recently announced. "Wireless Bureau Chief is a critical role and I'm pleased that he has agreed to embrace this challenge." Prior to rejoining the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, Phythyon was the Director of the FCC's Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs. Before coming to the FCC, Phythyon was Vice President, Congressional Liaison, National Association of Broadcasters from 1986 to 1994. From 1981 to 1986 Phythyon served as Staff Counsel, Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Phythyon received his J.D. from Cornell Law School and he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Westminster College. He lives with his wife, Carol Young, and their daughter, Sara, in Chevy Chase, MD. -FCC-
