      LAUREN J. ("PETE") BELVIN NAMED CHIEF, FOB ENFORCEMENT DIVISION


     Chairman Reed E. Hundt has named Lauren J. (Pete) Belvin, to
serve as the Chief of the Field Operations Bureau's Enforcement
Division.

     Prior to her current appointment, Belvin held a number of
other positions at the FCC, including Deputy General Counsel,
Associate General Counsel, and Legal Advisor to Chairmen Fowler,
Sikes and Quello, and to Commissioner Dawson.  Her immediate past
assignment was Acting Director of the Office of Legislative
Affairs.

     Her positions outside the Commission included counsel for
telecommunications matters to Blackwell, Sanders, Matheny,
Wearing and Lombardi, a Kansas City, MO, law firm, and General
Regulatory Counsel for U.S. Sprint.

     Belvin received a J.D. from the College of William and Mary,
Williamsburg, VA.  She is a member of the Virginia and Missouri
State Bar Associations and the Federal Communications Bar
Association.

     In announcing her appointment, Chairman Hundt said, "I am
delighted that Pete is taking on these new responsibilities in
this important post in the Field Operations Bureau."
