April 29, 1994 RUTH M. MILKMAN NAMED SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR TO CHAIRM AN HUNDT Chairman Reed Hundt has named Ruth Milkman as his Senior Legal Advisor, effective May 2, 1994. Milkman has served since May 1990 as Deputy Chief of the Policy and Program Planning Division of the Common Carrier Bureau where she worked with the Division Chief to develop policies for regulation of the domestic telecommunications industry. She has also served as a member of the Commission's task force analyzing legislative telecommunications reform proposals. Prior to being appointed Deputy Chief, Milkman served as Special Assistant to the General Counsel and as an Attorney Advisor in the Policy and Program Planning Division. She first worked for the Commission in 1984 as a law clerk in the Offices of Commissioner Mimi Weyforth Dawson and the Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau. Milkman received a B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1981. She earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1985. Milkman clerked for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. "Ruth's experience at the Commission will make her a valuable member of my staff," Hundt said today. "As Senior Legal Advisor, I and the rest of my staff will be looking to her for advice on a host of issues coming before the Commission.
