NEWS April 14, 1995 ABBIE BAYNES TO LEAVE COMMISSION Abbie G. Baynes, Special Counsel to FCC General Counsel William E. Kennard, will leave the Commission on April 14, 1995. On May 22, she will join the corporate finance group of Kleinwort Benson, a British investment bank. Ms. Baynes will work on communications financing transactions in the firm's New York office. Ms. Baynes has served as Special Counsel for mass media issues since March 1994. Prior to joining the Commission, she handled corporate transactions for communications companies as an associate at Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand in Washington, DC. Ms. Baynes graduated cum laude from Duke University in 1985, and obtained her J.D. and M.B.A. in finance from George Washington University. She served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Frank W. Bullock, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina after law school. Before attending law school, Ms. Baynes worked as a financial administrator and corporate trust officer for a commercial bank. She is the author of law review articles on corporate structure and judicial ethics. - FCC -
