    CHAIRMAN HUNDT INITIATES ON-LINE FORUM FOR DISCUSSION OF
VARIOUS
                        TELECOMMUNICATIONS ISSUES
                                    

     The Commission has introduced on the Internet an  open forum
in which Chairman
Reed Hundt will provide  his views on various important issues in
the telecommunications
field and solicit responses from the  public.

     The forum is an experimental service and will not be
conducted in real-time. 
Chairman Hundt will periodically review and comment on the
ongoing discussion. 

      Anyone with  WWW access to the Internet and a graphics
browser may participate.  
The online community may join the forum by visiting the FCC
Homepage at www.fcc.gov
and selecting "Chairman's Forum".
 
     The current topic is "Reducing Exposure to Violence on TV -
An Open Forum on
Technology, Social Policy and Moral Responsibility."  
Appropriate contributions  include
legal issues, the merits of various kinds of technology and means
for implementing them,
methods to encourage more appropriate programming and related
issues.
