NEWS September 21, 1995 JOSLYN READ NAMED ASSISTANT DIVISION CHIEF SATELLITE & RADIOCOMMUNICATION DIVISION INTERNATIONAL BUREAU International Bureau Satellite & Radiocommunication Division Chief Tom Tycz announced today that Joslyn Read has been promoted to Assistant Chief of the Satellite & Radiocommunication Division. Ms. Read will work with the Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief in planning, directing and coordinating all phases of work in the Division to ensure appropriate consideration of technological, economic, financial, policy and industry practice concerns with regards to various Division satellite and international radiocommu- nication rulemaking, licensing and conference activities. She will coordinate the Division's efforts in these areas as required with other FCC bureaus and offices, as well as with other involved agencies of the U.S. Government. Ms. Read will also be involved in the long range strategic policy issues that are implicated in the satellite and international radiocommunication activities of the Bureau. She will manage the Division's activities and staff on behalf of the Division Chief, as necessary. Joslyn Read has more than ten years experience in the international telecommuni- cations industry. In February 1995, Ms. Read joined the FCC International Bureau as Chief of the Negotiations Branch within the Planning & Negotiations Division. Prior to February, Ms. Read was Vice President, International Relations for Comsat Mobile Communications responsible for Inmarsat representation and foreign policy liaison. Before joining Comsat in 1985, Ms. Read worked for an international telecommunications consulting firm, and the Organization of American States. Ms. Read has a Masters degree in international communications policy from the Annenberg School of Communications of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA; and a Bachelor's degree with honors from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada.
