NEWS February 1, 1996 FCC CLARIFIES INFORMATION REGARDING OCBO'S 1996 AUCTIONS CONFERENCE On January 25, 1996, the FCC's Office of Communications Business Opportunities (OCBO) issued a news release announcing that it will host a conference entitled "FCC Auctions '96" on March 15, 1996. Although the Commission has pending rulemakings on 220 MHz, 28 GHz and 37- 38.6 GHz, the FCC has not yet determined whether to auction these services, as the press release may have inadvertently suggested. OCBO's conference sessions will address the Commission's proposals for these services, as well as the status of the rule makings. The conference will also address licensing, spectrum availability, proposed channeling plans, financial resources, and opportunities in Narrowband Personal Communications Services, Broadband Personal Communications Services in the D, E and F Blocks, 800 MHz SMR, General Wireless Communications Services, and Interactive Video and Data Services (IVDS). For additional information on the conference, please contact the Office of Communications Business Opportunities at (202) 418-0990, 418-0993 or 418-0995. - FCC -
