NEWS March 27, 1996 NEW TELECOM ACT IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE AVAILABLE The FCC today released an updated schedule for implementation of the mandates of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The new schedule reflects the fact that the Commission has already completed a number of its tasks and is streamlining some of its proposals in response to input from the public and industry. Since February 8, 1996, the Commission has taken action on 25 items relating to implementation of the Telecom Act, including eliminating national broadcast radio and television ownership limits, and establishing a Federal-State Joint Board for universal servcie issues.
