NEWS April 15, 1996 H. WALKER FEASTER III NAMED FCC'S INSPECTOR GENERAL H. Walker Feaster, III, has been named Inspector General (IG) of the FCC. The appointment became effective on April 14, 1996. The Office of Inspector General was created by the Inspector General Amendments Act of 1988. The IG conducts and supervises audits and investigations relating to the programs and operations of the agency. The IG recommends policies for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness, as well as prevent and detect fraud and abuse in agency programs. The IG also provides a means for keeping the Chairman, Commissioners and Congress fully informed about the problems and deficiencies at the agency. Feaster, who has been acting IG since November 14, 1994, has held a variety of management positions since starting with the Commission in 1974. His previous position was that of Associate Managing Director for Program Analysis in the Office of Managing Director. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Drexel University, a M.S. in Government from Southern Illinois University, and an M.B.A. in Finance from American University. Feaster, his wife Susan, and their daughter Nicole, live in Alexandria, VA. - FCC -
