NEWS May 10, 1996 GREGORY ROSSTON NAMED ACTING CHIEF ECONOMIST, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU Gregory L. Rosston has been named Acting Chief Economist of the Common Carrier Bureau. In addition to these new duties, he will continue to serve as Deputy Chief Economist of the Commission. In his new position he ensure that the Bureau has available to it the economic data and analysis it will need at it implements the Telecommunications Act of 1996 Dr. Rosston has been Deputy Chief Economist of the Commission since September 1994. In that capacity, he assisted the Commission in developing policies to promote competition and innovation in the telecommunications marketplace working directly on a variety of issues and ensuring economic input to Commission proceedings. He will continue to be involved in general FCC economic policies but will now be primarily concerned with Common Carrier issues. Before becoming Deputy Chief Economist, Dr. Rosston served as a senior economist in the Office of Plans and Policy for one and a half years. Prior to joining the Commission, Dr. Rosston worked as an economic consultant analyzing telecommunications and antitrust issues. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University. He received an A.B. in economics with honors from the University of California, Berkeley. "Greg will make invaluable contributions to the Common Carrier Bureau's implementation of the Telecommunications Act," said FCC Chairman Reed Hundt.
