NEWS June 17, 1996 KAREN GULICK JOINS COMMISSIONER NESS'S OFFICE AS INTERIM LEGAL ADVISOR Karen Gulick has been named interim Legal Advisor to Commissioner Susan Ness, replacing Legal Advisor Mary McManus. Ms. Gulick is on temporary detail from the Office of General Counsel, where she has been serving as Special Counsel to General Counsel William E. Kennard. Ms. Gulick will have primary responsibility for international and cable issues and will occasionally assist with common carrier matters. Ms. Gulick came to the FCC in 1995. In the Office of General Counsel, her responsibilities have included appellate litigation and legal advice on administrative and constitutional law. Ms. Gulick previously practiced law in the Washington office of Latham & Watkins, where she worked in the litigation and communications practice groups. From 1993 to 1994, she was a law clerk to Judge Jane R. Roth of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Ms. Gulick received her law degree from Yale Law School and her B.A. in History from Stanford University. - FCC -
