NEWS June 18, 1996 TROY F. TANNER NAMED CHIEF OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUREAU's POLICY & FACILITIES BRANCH, TELECOMMUNICATIONS DIVISION Mr. Troy F. Tanner, a Senior Legal Advisor to the International Bureau Chief, has returned to the Policy & Facilities Branch of the Telecommunications Division to assume the role of Branch Chief. As Branch Chief, Mr. Tanner will direct and coordinate Branch activities including the authorizing of all U.S. international telecommunications service providers, and the monitoring and enforcing of the Commission's international settlements policy. Mr. Tanner has been with the Commission since 1991. Prior to becoming a Senior Legal Advisor, Mr. Tanner was an attorney advisor in the Policy & Facilities Branch. While at the FCC, Mr. Tanner has worked on several Commission proceedings focusing on questions of U.S. market entry by foreign entities. He also spearheaded the Commission's recent proceeding streamlining the international Section 214 authorization process. Prior to joining the FCC, Mr. Tanner spent over three years in private practice with the communications law firm of Reddy, Begley and Martin. He received his law degree from George Washington University and graduated with a B.A. in International Relations with Honors from Brigham Young University. Mr. Tanner is an active member of the Federal Communications Bar Association, and Co-chair of the Telecommunications Committee of the D.C. Bar's Computer and Telecommunications Law Section. He resides in Burke, Virginia, with his wife, Stacy, and three children. - FCC -
