HOW TO GET INFORMATION
ON FCC AUGUST 1 ACTIONS
On Thursday, August 1, 1996, at 9:30 a.m. the FCC will hold an
Open Meeting on the following subjects: (1) Implementation of the
Local Competition Provisions in the Telecommunications Act and (2)
Restrictions on Over-the-Air Reception Devices.
This release describes various ways the public can access this
meeting and the information that will be released describing
Commission actions.
View meeting at FCC:
The meeting will take place in the FCC meeting room (room 856), 1919
M Street, NW, Washington, DC, and is open to the public. The
following overflow rooms will be available for viewing the meeting on
the FCC's closed circuit television system: Rooms 315 and 535 at 1919
M Street, NW; training rooms (A and 111) at 2000 M Street, NW;
conference room 6324 at 2025 M Street, NW; and conference room 900
at 2033 M Street, NW.
View meeting via microwave channel:
George Mason University's microwave television channel, "The Capitol
Connection" will carry the meeting and press conference in their
entirety beginning at 9:30 a.m. For more information, please call:

Telephone hook-up (for audio only)
There are two ways to access the meeting via the telephone:
- The FCC meeting and press conference are available live over a
telephone line through a service of National Narrowcast Network at
(202) 966-2211 or fax (202) 966-1770. This is a fee service which is
billed directly from Narrowcast.
- Conference Call USA audio coverage is available only outside the
Washington metropolitan viewing area by calling 1-800-962-0044. This
is a fee service from The Capitol Connection.
At the conclusion of the meeting, after the Commission has voted on
each item, the FCC will make available a news release describing each
action. If you have any questions about whether a news release is
available, call the FCC's Office of Public Affairs at 202/418-0500 or
202/418-0260. News releases are available at the FCC, from the FCC's
duplicating contractor, and as described below.
FCC's fax on demand:
Call (202) 418-2830 and follow instructions to obtain document 2888
(news release summarizing FCC interconnection action) or document
2360 (news release summarizing over-the-air reception devices action).
These releases will be available at the conclusion of the August 1
meeting.
FCC's Internet site:
All FCC releases are accessible through the FCC's Internet site. If you
have access to the world wide web, use the url (address)
"http://www.fcc.gov" to reach the FCC homepage. If you use (file
transfer protocol), once you are logged into your provider service you
may access the FCC homepage at "ftp ftp.fcc.gov." Use "anonymous" as
your user name and your e-mail address as your password. In addition
to the release, the text of the decision will be put on the Internet as
soon it is released. To find out if text is available, check FCC Internet
www site or call (202) 418-0500.
Video and audio tapes:
Video and audio tapes of the meeting are available for a fee from
