NEWS August 5, 1996 JOHN MORGAN NAMED ASSISTANT CHIEF, VIDEO SERVICES DIVISION John Morgan has been appointed to the position of Assistant Chief (Engineering) of the Video Services Division of the Mass Media Bureau. Mr. Morgan joined the FCC in 1966 as an electronics engineer in the old Broadcast Bureau. He worked in various application processing areas until 1974 when he became a supervisor. Between 1974 and 1986 Mr. Morgan held a variety of supervisory and management positions in the AM, FM, and TV application processing areas of the Commission. In 1986 he was appointed to the position of Chief of the Telecommunications Analysis Branch in the FCC's Office of Engineering and Technology (OET). Research performed in that Branch was instrumental to the introduction of the new Personal Communications Services (PCS) technology in the GHz band. Since March 1995 he has been Chief of the Experimental Licensing Branch in OET. Mr. Morgan is a graduate of Penn State University and is a U.S. Army veteran. He resides with his wife, Phyllis, who works in the FCC's General Counsel's Office, and their two daughters, Holly and Erin, in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. - FCC -
