Upon consideration of the above-captioned uncontested application, filed pursuant to Section 214 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, we find that the present and future public convenience and necessity require a grant thereof. 2. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that application File No. I-T-C-94-509 IS GRANTED, and American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) is authorized to: a. acquire on an ownership basis and operate 16 half-MIUs in the Asia Pacific Cable Network, as follows: Segment No. of MIUs Japan-Hong Kong 7 Japan-Thailand 3 Japan-Malaysia 3 Japan-Singapore 2 Japan-Indonesia 1 b. lease a one-half interest in and operate necessary overseas connecting facilities; and c. multiply the bearer channels authorized herein, through the use of Digital Circuit Multiplication Equipment, to obtain the maximum number of circuits available; and d. activate and operate these facilities to provide AT&T's regularly authorized services between the United States and points in the Pacific area AT&T is authorized to serve. 3. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the authority herein is granted subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the C&MA for the Asia Pacific Cable Network, as well as any Commission Order granting authority to acquire and operate facilities in the Asia Pacific Cable Network. 4. This Order is issued under Section 0.261 of the Commission's Rules and is effective upon adoption. Petitions for reconsideration under Section 1.106 or applications for review under Section 1.115 of the Commission's Rules may be filed within 30 days of the date of public notice of this Order (see Section 1.4(b)(2)).
