FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: News Media Contact: September 19, 2001 Meribeth McCarrick at (202) 418-0654 e-mail: mmccarri@fcc.gov WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU ANNOUNCES ROGER NOEL TO SERVE AS A DEPUTY CHIEF OF BUREAU'S COMMERCIAL WIRELESS DIVISION Washington, DC The FCC's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has announced that Roger Noel will serve in the Bureau's Commercial Wireless Division as a Deputy Chief with responsibility for engineering and technology matters. Most recently, Noel served as Chief of the Division's Licensing and Technical Analysis Branch, where he supervised the Division's engineering and licensing staff and oversaw the implementation of the Bureau's Universal Licensing System for the commercial wireless radio services. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Chief of the Policy and Rules Branch in the Bureau's Public Safety and Private Wireless Division. Noel has also served as Assistant for Aviation and Maritime Services in the FCC's former Private Radio Bureau. Noel holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech. The Bureau announced that Senior Engineer Michael Ferrante will serve as Acting Chief of the Licensing and Technical Analysis Branch until a permanent replacement is hired. - FCC -
