FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE TCPA REGARDING UNSOLICITED FAXES Washington, D.C. Today the Federal Communications Commission (Commission) released an order imposing a $90,000 fine against US Notary, Inc. (US Notary) for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Commission's implementing rules by faxing unsolicited advertisements to consumers. The Commission determined that US Notary violated the TCPA and the Commission's rules on 20 separate occasions by sending unsolicited fax advertisements to consumers after receiving a written warning from the Commission's Enforcement Bureau that subsequent unsolicited faxes of this type could result in monetary forfeitures. The Commission fined US Notary $4,500 for each of the 20 violations. Action by the Commission, adopted on October 3, 2001 by Forfeiture Order (FCC 01- 301), Commissioner Abernathy issuing a separate statement.
