NEWSReport No. WT 96-12 WIRELESS TELECOM ACTION July 11, 1996 FCC AFFIRMS DENIAL OF WAIVER REQUESTS IN THE FIRST AUCTION OF IVDS LICENSES In the context of the payment rules for the first IVDS auction, the FCC has denied four petitions for reconsideration of Commission action, and has dismissed a fifth petition as repetitious. On July 28 and 29, 1994, the Commission held the first auction of IVDS licenses. Pursuant to auction rules, the deadline for the initial down payment required of "small business" winning bidders was set at August 8, 1994. Certain winning bidders failed to meet that payment deadline and submitted requests for waiver of the deadline. By Order adopted pursuant to delegated authority, those requests were denied on October 7, 1994. For the five subject petitioners, the Commission affirmed those determinations by Memorandum Opinion and Order released September 1, 1995. The present action affirms the Commission's determinations in that previous Memorandum Opinion and Order. Action by the Commission June 18, 1996 by Memorandum Opinion and Order (FCC 96-271).
