FCC SETS AUGUST 29TH AUCTION DATE FOR 493 BTA LICENSES LOCATED 
IN THE C BLOCK FOR PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES 
IN THE 2 GHZ BAND
     
              By Public Notice, released June 13, 1995, the Commission announced the temporary
suspension of the filing deadline for the FCC Form 175 applications for the C block auction
to give both the Commission and potential applicants time to analyze the Supreme Court's
decision in Adarand Constructors, Inc. v. Pena, 63 U.S.L.W., No. 93-1841 (U.S. June 12,
1995).  The Commission announces today that the auction for the C block broadband PCS
licenses will now commence on Tuesday, August 29, 1995.  FCC Form 175 applications for
the C block auction must be received by the Commission no later than 5:30 p.m. on Friday,
July 28, 1995.  Upfront Payments for the C block auction must be received by Tuesday,
August 15, 1995.  Today the Commission also issued a Further Notice of Proposed Rule
Making  soliciting comment on proposed changes to the competitive bidding rules for the C
block auction.
