PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 DA 97-1176 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov Released: June 11, 1997 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU TO HOLD PUBLIC FORUM ON TUESDAY, JULY 8 TO DISCUSS IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEW LICENSING SYSTEM The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) is in the process of replacing its ten separate licensing/application processing systems with a single integrated licensing system and database -- the Universal Licensing System (ULS). WTB is currently developing data conversion programs, verifying data, and developing the functional requirements and technical specifications for this new system. The new system is projected to be on-line during the second half of FY 1998. Our goals in developing the ULS are to expand electronic filing capabilities, speed licensing processes, and provide a simple method to obtain data concerning wireless spectrum. In making such a large change to the license process, the Bureau is vitally interested in the views of the end users of the system. To inform the public and solicit views regarding the Bureau's plans for the ULS, WTB staff will hold a public forum for all interested parties on July 8, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Commission Meeting Room (Room 856) at 1919 M Street NW, Washington, D.C.
