PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 _________________________________________________________ News Media Information (202) 418-0500. Recorded listing of releases and texts (202) 418-2222. Report No. WT 97-13 WIRELESS TELECOM ACTION March 21, 1997 NEW ENGLAND AREA (REGION 19) RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR MINOR AMENDMENT TO ITS REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLAN (GEN. DOCKET NO. 90-53) By this notice, the minor amendment to the Region 19 Public Safety Radio Plan that denotes the operational guidelines for the five common channels (mutual aid) designated for inter-agency use in the New England area is approved. On January 15, 1997, we received a letter dated January 7, 1997 from Region 19 (New England) proposing to amend the Region 19 Public Safety Plan that was adopted by the Commission on April 26, 1990, General Docket No. 90-53, 5 FCC Rcd 2844 (1990). The Region 19 Plan was subsequently revised by letter on February 28, 1995, and October 30, 1996. In accordance with the National Public Safety Plan, each region is responsible for the operation and management of the mutual aid channels. Report and Order, General Docket No. 87-112, 3 FCC Rcd 905 (1987). We have reviewed the Region 19 request and find that the amendment furthers this goal. As a result of a cooperative effort between Region 19 and Region 8 (New York Metropolitan Area), the common channel usage policy mirrors that of the Region 8 plan concerning the use of the mutual aid channels. The amendment is considered a minor amendment and no further concurrences are needed. Therefore, the amendment is accepted as submitted. The Secretary's office will place the amended Region 19 Plan in the official docket file where it is available to the public.
