Washington, D.C. 20554 Released: September 4, 1997 FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION ANNOUNCES PUBLIC ACCESS TO ITS LICENSING DATABASES The Federal Communications Commission is providing public access to its licensing databases on a trial basis. Access to this program is available through the World Wide Web at http://gullfoss.fcc.gov:8080/beta.htm. From this site, select General Menu Reports to query a variety of Commission licensing databases. These reports provide access to the Commission's licensing databases in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. The databases can be searched by licensee name, state and county, frequency, latitude/longitude, call sign, pending file number (Land Mobile only) and some combinations of the above. During this trial period, there will be no charge for access to the system. At the end of the public testing period, this service will be available on the FCC's wide area network at a charge of $2.30 per minute. The first two minutes of access will be free. To enroll as an official beta tester and receive E-mail notifications when new programs become available to test, send an E-mail to betacomm@fcc.gov.
