As described in detail, below, electronic filers will be unable to immediately obtain a registration number upon submission of electronic applications during the initial transition to the new system. Additionally, all electronic filing will take place over the FCC's wide area network (WAN) via a toll-free dial- up line, and not directly via the Internet. Electronic filers will be able to use their browser to submit electronic filings, however, and the public will be able to conduct searches of the ASR database directly through the Internet. Filers will not be able to file via the Internet. Features Available Today · Electronic Filing. We resume electronic filing for FCC Form 854, Application for Antenna Structure Registration. Additional details regarding electronic filing are provided below. · Internet Query. Free searches of the ASR database are now available via the Antenna Homepage (http://www.fcc.gov/wtb/antenna). Choose the button marked "Query" to use this function. Important Information for Electronic Filing · Use of Dial-Up Access. Electronic filers must connect with the Commission's wide area network (WAN) for ASR filing, and will not be able to use a direct Internet connection. Filers will, however, be able to use their Internet browser to conduct electronic filing. You may connect to the Commission's WAN by configuring your browser to dial into the Commission on a toll-free access number. Information on how to do this is available on the Antenna Homepage (http://www.fcc.gov/wtb/antenna). Select the button marked "ASR Electronic Filing." · FCC Review of All Electronic Submissions. During a transition period of approximately one week, the FCC will manually review all electronic ASR submissions for quality control purposes. During this time, electronic filers will not be able to obtain Registration Number immediately upon filing, but will instead receive a file number. The Registration Number will be reflected the Registration document (FCC Form 854R) that we mail to the antenna structure owner. In the time between electronic filing and receipt of the Registration, electronic filers must use the new query feature if they want to determine if a Registration Number has been issued. We described the overall ASR transition process in a Public Notice released June 21, 1999, ("Commission Announces New Procedures for Antenna Structure Registration,") DA 99-1186, available on the Internet Antenna Homepage (http://www.fcc.gov/wtb/antenna). The Homepage also contains general information about the Commission's ASR regulations. Contacts for Further Information: FCC Technical Support Hotline: (202)414-1250 or via e-mail at ulscomm@fcc.gov.
