Washington, DC 20054Re: Ex Parte Communication in the matter of Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding Rules and Regulations Implementing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, CG Docket No. 02- 278 CC Docket No. 92- 90
Dear Madam Secretary,
As Chairperson of the Commission's Consumer/Disability Telecommunications Advisory Committee (C/DTAC), the following recommendations were made by the Committee at its November 8, 2002 meeting in reference to the above-captioned matter:
CDTAC supports the creation of a national "do not call" list which is easily accessible to consumers.
CDTAC urges the Commission to promote consistency and uniformity in federal and state regulations of telemarketing practices. The National Consumers League did not take part in the development of this recommendation.
CDTAC urges the Commission to increase enforcement actions against deceptive practices in telemarketing, E.G., the transmission of a bogus telephone number which makes it difficult for a consumer to know the identity of the call originator. The National Consumers League did not take part in the development of this recommendation.
This is an Ex Parte communication filed pursuant to Sec. 1.1206 of the Commission's rules.
Sincerely,
Shirley L. Rooker, Chairperson
Consumer/Disability Telecommunications Advisory committeeCC: K. Dane Snowden, Chief
