Clifford is the Chairman of AgriStar Globa Networks, a communications company which provides satellite broadband connectivity and information services dedicated to agriculture and rural America. During his 40-year career, Clifford has been a founder and chief officer of several inter-related companies which developed pioneering print and electronic communications programs and business services for the agricultural community.

In the late 1960s, Clifford was a founder of Top Farmers of America, the first organization to exclusively serve the country's leading farm and ranch operators, and was its president and chairman for 15 years. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was chairman of Market Communications, Inc., a publishing and market consulting firm which provided services for a broad spectrum of multinational food and agricultural clients. In the early 1970s, Clifford was a founder of Farm Futures Magazine, the industry's first risk management publication. In the mid 1980s he was a founder and director of AgriData Resources, Inc., an early agricultural computer network.
