Jacob and his family moved their family farm to Southwest Virginia in 1995. They started selling produce at the Abingdon Farmers Market, which, with the Assistance of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon (SVHEC), evolved into Farm2Market.org, a virtual, Internet-based farmers market. Through contacts at the SVHEC, Jacob participated in Farm2Market.org where he began selling Amish crafts through his RiversideToys.com Web site. Jacob now also works at the SVHEC and helps maintain the Farm2Market.org site.
