PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ANNOUNCES

REGION 8 (NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA) PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL

PLANNING COMMITTEES TO HOLD 700 MHZ REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLANNING

AND 800 MHZ NPSPAC REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLANNING MEETINGS

The Region 8 (New York Metropolitan area)1 Public Safety Regional Planning Committees
(RPCs) will hold two consecutive planning meetings on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Beginning at 10:00
a.m., the 700 MHz Public Safety RPC will convene at the New Jersey Transit, 1 Penn Plaza 9th Floor
Board Room, Newark, New Jersey 07105.
The agenda for the 700 MHz meeting includes:

Review and approval of the February 24, 2009 meeting agenda

Review and approval of the December 16, 2008 meeting report

State Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC Reports):
o New York State (Vinnie Stiles)
o New Jersey (Jody Nestor)

Working Group activities:
4.9 GHz Working Group (Mr. Felix Melendez)
o Letter requesting licensees in Region 8 to provide technical data
o Status of 4.9 GHz licensees database effort
700 MHz Working Group (Travis LePage)
o Region 8 700 MHz Plan approval update
o Region 8 to Region 28 700 MHz Plan concurrence update

Immediately following the 700 MHz Public Safety RPC meeting, the 800 MHz Public Safety
RPC will convene at the same location.

1 Region 8 (New York Metropolitan area) consists of Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens,
Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties, New York; and Bergen, Essex,
Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, Warren, Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer, and Monmouth
Counties, New Jersey.

Both of the Region 8 Public Safety RPC meetings are open to the public. It is essential that
public safety agencies in all areas of government, including state, municipality, county, and Native
American Tribal, and non-governmental organizations eligible under Section 90.523 of the
Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R. 90.523, be represented in order to ensure that each agency's future
spectrum needs are considered in the allocation process. Administrators who are not oriented in the
communications field should delegate someone with this knowledge to attend, participate, and represent
their agency's needs.
All interested parties wishing to participate in the planning for the use of public safety spectrum
in the 700 MHz, 4.9 GHz and 800 MHz bands within Region 8 should plan to attend. For further
