A note about Lat/Long searches. |
Latitude/Longitude searches on the ULS database can be very slow to respond. The amount of time that the query can take is directly proportional to the amount of data which meets each of the criteria.
For example, if you select a 70 mile radius search that includes many major metropolitan areas, the system will choke. The problem is that there are so many records in the ULS database that even though every field is indexed and the server is very robust, the raw volume of data that is accessed is too much for the server to handle.
The best way to access the data is to try to narrow down the location as much as possible. If you need a 70 mile radius, (140 mile square) try running four queries instead each with a 70 mile square in four quadrants around the original center point.
We apologize for the inconvenience this causes. However, we are currently working to performance tune these queries to the best of our abilities. Thanks for your patience. |

The other master lists, Licensee, Frequency, Lat/Long, and State/County, are being updated on a nightly basis and are working fine. If a callsign you are searching for does not report as existing in the callsign search, try another search suich as Licensee/St to get the data, it will be reportred.
This will only affect callsigns added after November 28, 2000.

The 3rd and final phase of the migration of the Land Mobile data into the ULS database is happening over the Thanksgiving weekend, November 22-26, 2000. This includes the following Radio Services: "IK", "YK", "IG", "YG", "GB", "GU", "YB", "YU", "GO", "GI", "YO", "IB", "IF", "IP", "IS", "IT", "IV", "IW", "IX", "IY", "LA", "LI", "LJ", "LR", "LU", "LV", "LX", "YI". During the transition, the data will be reported from the Land Mobile Database. We expect the data to be selectable in ULS by 4:00PM on Monday, November 27. The SHIP / MARINE data is currently accessible through the ULS Database, including the Radio Services “SA” and “SB”. The old “Marine” database is no longer in service. This data was previously only searchable by callsign, but now can be accessed through the Licensee, Licensee/State, and Licensee/Zip searches as well! |

Migration of Marine Database to ULS |
The SHIP / MARINE data was migrated to the ULS database on Friday, Nov 17. Currently the callsign data in General Menu reports is being updated to reflect the new data. This data, which was only selectable by callsign, is now selectable by Licensee Name as well. The callsign data will return either the legacy data (from MARINE Database) or the current data (from ULS Database) until the update of all callsign records is done. We expect this to be complete by 4:00PM Monday November 20. All other data is inaffected. |

On November 17, 2000, the Ship / Marine data will be migrated from the MARINE database to the ULS database. This transition should be much easier than the recent Land Mobile data migrations due to the small amount of data involved. The Ship / Marine data, previously accessible only by callsign, will be searchable by Licensee Name. |
